About My Teaching
I have taught piano students of all ages for the last several years. Piano technique and music-making overall are both remarkably individual pursuits; the specifics of one's anatomy and previous musical experience shape both the student's physical approach to the keyboard and their sound. In each lesson, I ask my students questions about their physical and aural experiences at the keyboard so that I may best collaborate with their thoughts and feelings. I have found one-on-one lessons to be wonderfully rewarding for both the teacher and the student: the individualized space allows a teacher to discover what motivates each student, their unique passions, and what brings them to lesson each week. My primary goal as a teacher is to help my students find their voice at the piano and hone their abilities so that they may best communicate all they have to say.
